Currently Bette Hyde, the Director of the Department of Early Learning
(DEL), and Governor Christine Gregoire have asked us to partner with
them as they seek to ensure all young children are ready for school
and for life.

important role in the lives of children. Research shows high-quality
early learning opportunities are a key to ensuring children start school
ready to succeed. The Department of Early Learning (DEL) works to
support providers and educators with information and opportunities to
build upon their knowledge and experience. (DEL)

Support for Early Learning Families (SELF):
SELF is a collaborative of supporting organizations that are like minded
in the care and nurture of children. SELF is a network of resources to
serve children's needs and is a clearinghouse and resource center for
information.
SELF's vision statement of "creating a caring community where all
young children thrive" is important so that children are ready to meet
the challenges of entering school. We care about the “whole child,”
including education, public safety, basic needs, medical support,
